Library hosts community open house

CITY, State (June 12, 2008)--Check out more than a book and enjoy a free lunch at the Raber Public Library's community open house June 18 featuring children's games, "Ask a Librarian discussion panel and more.

The open house spotlights many of the resources that the Raber Public Library offers the community, including free classes [[movie rentals and research assistance, and whatever]].

Librarians will give tours of the facility and provide an overview of the services and programs that they offer. Information booths, available throughout the open house, will answer any questions you may have during your visit.

The "Ask a Librarian" discussion panel will follow tours and give patrons a chance to suggest changes and programs that they may like at the library.

Supervised children's games will be held in the library's courtyard for the duration of the open house. [[Game types: sharks and minnows, red rover, freeze tag, dodge ball?]] are just a few of the games offered.

The Hamilton Community Foundation will provide a free lunch of hotdogs, chips, cookies and drinks to all those who visit.

The open house will take place at the Raber Public Library on Saturday, June 18, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The Raber Public Library actively paretners with community groups to raise awareness on social issues such as homelessness, hunger and healthcare.

The library has focused on helping its homeless patrons through food drives, providing informational cards and handouts, and opening their doors as a day-shelter.

Fundraisers are held on a regular basis to help support these initiatives and libraries are known to give form their own pockets to fill in funding gaps.
